White Sage Smudge Sticks - Set of 3
California White Sage is one of the most sacred herbs among indigenous North American people. Used in ritual, ceremonies or just for cleansing. They placed sage in ceremonial locations, such as the sweat lodges and altars, positioning the flowering side of the plant facing the fire. They used white sage as an incense to cleanse and fend off evil spirits, sickness and negative feelings. The plant's purification properties also cleansed inanimate objects, such as utensils, weapons and living quarters.
Smudging (burning herbs and plant resins for medicinal and spiritual use) has been used since ancient times for healing and to clear the build up of emotional or spiritual negativity.
Smudging is often viewed as some sort of magical practice, however recent studies have shown that there is scientific evidence that medicinal smoke is a powerful antiseptic that can purify the air of 94% of harmful bacteria for up to 24 hours.
3Each smudge stick is 4" long.

Instructions for use:
Before you begin, open up a window (or a few) for ventilation. Place the herb bundle onto a heat/fire-proof surface, or hold it in your hand. Light it with a match or a lighter, and then gently blow out the flame, allowing the material to smolder. Focus your energy on the smoke. If a flame appears, shake the bundle slightly, or blow on it until it turns to embers and smoke. You may need to re-light the bundle a few times during the smudging process.
To smudge your body, use your hand or a feather to direct it over your body, moving from your feet all the way up to your head and back again, staying connected to your breathing throughout the session. Visualize the smoke removing negative energy from your life and home.
To smudge your home, move around your house, starting at your front door. Gently wave the smoke into the air, focusing especially on the corners of each room, as they’re said to accumulate the most stagnant energy. Envision the smoke clearing negative energy, waving the smudge bundle up and down as the smoke fills the area.
Don’t forget about closed spaces, like closets – open doors and carefully smudge the inside too.
When you reach each doorway, ask that the room be sealed and protected from this point on while you smudge the outline of the doorway.
Move directly into the next room. Remember to pass the wand over the edges of each window and door as you continue through each room of the house or workspace. Once you’ve smudged your whole house, allow the herb bundle to burn out. Again, it is very important to open windows before starting this process. Not only does this help remove the negative energy, but it also keeps you from inhaling smoke for an extended period of time.Note: This website is not designed to, and should not be construed to, provide medical advice, professional diagnosis, opinion or treatment to you or any other individual, and is not intended as a substitute for medical or professional care and treatment.
